Assam Black Tea

Life is too short to drink bad tea, and here is your solution.

Our Assam Black Tea is graded FBOP and from northeastern India.  FBOP stands for Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe and is a robust tea with the malty flavor associated with great breakfast teas to be enjoyed all day.

You might ask – what gives Assam FBOP Black Tea its special characteristics?

The Brahmaputra River dominates the Assam valley. It is a large, slowly meandering river that has deposited its rich loam over the area, leaving the soil deep and sandy after years of flooding.

Assam has a sweltering and steamy monsoon season. But, equally important, relatively dry and cool winters are perfect conditions for growing the assamica tea bush.

Add all this beauty together, and you get the perfect black tea. A medium-sized leaf with some golden tips thrown in and brewing a strong color with a slightly spicy malt flavor.

Add milk to our Assam FBOP Black Tea and some agave nectar to make a smooth flavor. But for the true tea lovers who like a bold Cuppa, go for it!

Consider our Nilgiri Black Tea from southern India for a milder cup of black tea.

20 to 25 cups of tea can be made from 2 oz of loose-leaf tea.

Brewing Instructions for Assam FBOP Black Tea

Assam FBOP Black Tea can be steeped at least three times and, depending on the steep times, as many as five times. Also, consider blending the first steep with the following steeps to balance the tea; if you do not want to drink all the tea, store it in the fridge for wonderful iced tea.
